Jack Wright, Ph.D., 71
Jack is the managing partner of San Rafael Consulting Group, LLC and has 47 years’ experience in corporate management. San Rafael is the exclusive agent of Galileo Asset Management SA, a Swiss licensed asset management firm in Lausanne, Switzerland owned by the Wright family.
In his 19 years with CGL Corporation he progressed from marketing manager to senior management. In 1979 he was promoted to vice–president in charge of international operations. In this position he secured government and corporate grant funding to open several manufacturing plants in international markets and led the company in negotiation of joint ventures and licensing in these markets. During Jack’s tenure as CEO, CGL had back-to-back years of record growth in sales and profit. After the sale of CGL in 1989, Jack founded his own consulting and research company. For the last 28 years, Jack has been responsible for his clients completing 67 private placements of debt and equity fundings totaling over $400 million.
Jack is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where earned a B.S. in Economics (1969). He earned a Master of Science in Marketing from the Carlson Business School at the University of Minnesota (1970), and Master of Arts in Management (1982), MBA (1983) and Doctorate in Executive Management from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management of Claremont Graduate School in 1984. Jack was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Business Society in 1971.
Jack is a member of the Board of Trustees, a Co-Producer and former Treasurer of the Sarasota Opera Company. In 2004 he received the Impresario Award for his contributions to the Sarasota Opera. Jack is also a member of the board of governors of the Ivy League Club of Sarasota and is a former president of the U of Penn Alumni Club of Sarasota/Manatee and continues to serve on its board of directors.
He is a former Associate Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania and member of the University’s President’s Council. He is also a former member of the Los Angeles County Art Museum President’s Council, former member of the National Committee of the American Ballet Theatre, and former board member of the following organizations: Los Angeles Opera, Villa Mariposa (home for battered boys), and board member of Rotary International in Northridge, California.
Jack’s hobbies are golf, snow skiing, and baseball. He has coached at the USA Baseball selection camp for the U.S. National Junior Olympic team and managed a team at the AAU Junior Olympics Finals in 1999. The AAU Junior Olympic team won the Pac Bell International Wood Bat Tournament in 1999. In 2000 Jack managed the Florida Sharks, a Men’s Adult Baseball League team, which won the National Men’s Open AAA Tournament at Cooperstown, NY and managed the Sharks in the MABL World Series in Phoenix, Arizona.
Jack has been married for 40 years to Isabelle Wright from Gruyères Switzerland and has three children and six grandchildren. Isabelle recently served on the board of the La Musica chamber music festival in Sarasota and was an active “Big Sister” in the Big Brothers – Big Sisters program.
